Jewelry recovered from Burglary In Hamden
In May, 2012, Sheriff Mills presented a certificate of
appreciation to Danielle Conforti, who turned in the jewels she found
tossed in the trash at the Southside Mall in Oneonta.
While performing her job, Ms. Conforti found a green bag
containing jewelry in a trash barrel at the Southside Mall in Oneonta.
What distinguishes her from many others is her propensity to do the
“right thing.” She immediately initiated steps that would lead to finding its owners. She is to be commended
for her honesty, integrity and unselfishness, as well as her willingness to get involved despite possible
inconvenience.
Sheriff Mills told Ms. Conforti that he found her honesty refreshing. He also told her that the owners
were very pleased when they were told their jewelry had been recovered. They said its primary value to them
was a sentimental one; upon which one cannot place a price.
This investigation culminated in the retrieval of goods stolen in Hamden, as well as a successful and
speedy arrest. The owners were especially pleased to recover 99% of their possessions, of which much
consisted of family heirlooms having significant sentimental value.
