INFORMATION & REFERRAL
In order to assist seniors
and their advocates in overcoming difficulties, our well-trained staff is
prepared to provide a wide variety of information. In situations where
another agency or organization would be better suited to provide assistance,
we will refer our clients and follow up to make sure that the client's needs
are addressed.

EISEP: EXPANDED IN-HOME SERVICES
FOR THE ELDERLY PROGRAM
Assisting older persons toward independent living is a primary concern and goal of the Office for the Aging.
A cost-sharing program of homemaking and personal care assistance has been established for non-Medicaid eligible persons
who are sixty and over. By helping with housework, shopping and personal care,
EISEP services may allow the older citizen to remain at home where s/he is comfortable.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE SYSTEM (ERS)
A personal emergency response unit can be installed in the home of an individual who may be medically at risk or socially isolated.
ERS services are offered by our agency. Call us at 607-746-6333 if you have need of these services.

MEALS ON WHEELS
The agency contracts with Delaware
Opportunities to provide both congregate and home delivered meals for county residents, 60 years
of age and older and their spouses. Working out of 7 dining centers
the program is a county-wide
service. |

LEGACY CORPS (CAREGIVER
SERVICES)
Our Legacy Caregiver Support
Program utilizes volunteers to assist family caregivers to meet the
challenges of helping their loved ones. Some of the services provided
are respite, friendly visiting, and assisting with errands.

HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (HEAP)
HEAP provides Delaware County's eligible older population
with financial help to pay heating bills. HEAP assistance may be applied for
by those age 60 and over by calling (607-746-6333) and requesting a mail-in
application.
Eligibility is based on monthly gross income,
the number of persons living in the household, and the heating situation. |

LEGAL SERVICES
Delaware County Office for the Aging
contracts with the Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York to assist older persons
with legal counseling in several areas of the law such as Medicare,
Medicaid, landlord-tenant disputes, Power of Attorneys for Seniors, Wills,
Health Care Proxy's, etc. We'll be happy to arrange an appointment for
persons needing legal advice. In addition we are collaborating with
the Rural Law Center of NY to provide additional legal services. Just call the office at 607-746-6333 for

SENIOR TRANSPORTATION
The Office
for
the Aging operates a coach-type bus with handicapped accessibility which serves most of Delaware County.
Different fixed routes, operating three (3) days a week, have been established to help riders meet their shopping and social needs. A system of bus coordinators
takes reservations for those persons wishing to ride the bus. For a list of the coordinators and a copy of the bus
schedule, please call the office at 607-746-6333. The bus is also available for senior citizen groups to
CHARTER. Charter trips may be scheduled for Mondays
through Sundays as long as a vehicle and bus driver are both available.

NON-EMERGENCY
HEALTH RELATED TRANSPORTATION
We also offer a limited transportation service to meet non-emergency health care
appointments and pharmaceutical needs.

HIICAP
HIICAP is the Health
Insurance Information Counseling & Assistance Program. The Office
For The Aging has a trained staff person to assist clients with medical
bills, health insurance, and Medicare questions. |

TAX-AIDE COUNSELING
Specially trained volunteer Tax Counselors
assist seniors in completing federal and state income tax returns. The
program runs from February 1st to April 15th of each year.

55 ALIVE DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM
This
AARP safe driving course for persons 50 years of age or older helps
participants improve their driver safety awareness. Most insurance companies
offer a premium discount for drivers who have successfully completed this
course. |

LOAN CLOSET - EQUIPMENT
Our office operates a Loan Closet service which provides wheelchairs, walkers, commodes, crutches, etc. for elderly Delaware County clients who need them.

is published bi-monthly and contains valuable information about programs, services and proposed
legislation which can affect the quality of the older citizens of Delaware County. This important
