The Delaware County Historical Association was founded in 1945 to preserve and present the rich history of Delaware County. In the early 1960s, the Association purchased property, originally settled by Gideon Frisbee. Today, DCHA has over 600 members and presents the history and folk life of this county through the site’s historic buildings, exhibits, programs and publications. DCHA is home to 7 historic buildings including the 1797 Frisbee House and barn, blacksmith shop, nineteenth-century gun shop, school house, turnpike tollgate house, Christian Church at Fitch’s Bridge a well as two exhibit galleries, research library and archives, gift/book shop, nature trail and much more. DCHA’s Church and spacious exhibit space are both available to rent for private functions.

The Museum has over 70 acres, and 16 historic buildings. There is a working water powered sawmill, gristmill, and woodworking shop, a 15 minute orientation video and many different exhibits including the John Hanford Farmstead complex and nature trails. They also offer educational programs and workshops.

Known as Woodchuck Lodge, it is a registered National Historic Landmark that was the summer home of John Burroughs, America’s most prominent and adored naturalist-essayist in the late 19th- and early 20th-centuries. Woodchuck Lodge Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring and preserving the historic Lodge and to promoting the ideas and legacy of John Burroughs through events and activities that encourage people to live, work and prosper in harmony with nature.

To provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities, including mental retardation giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of skills and friendship with their families, Special Olympics athletes and the community. Through their participation in Special Olympics New York athletes gain confidence and build a positive self-image,
which carries into the classroom, the home, the workplace and the community.

This Greek Revival Church was built in 1850 and served
the community until 1971. In 1971 the church closed its doors and in 1975 it became the West Kortright Centre, Inc., a not-for-profit organization dedicated to excellence in arts
programming and presentation. From Bach to Bluegrass, fiction to fashion, Roches to Rockabilly, the West Kortright Centre sponsors performances, workshops, gallery exhibits, and community gatherings in a historic country church in the rural valley of Delaware County.
