Qualification to register and vote

Resident of the State, County and Town 30 days preceding the election

Not be in jail or on parole for a felony conviction

A voter may register in person at the board of elections or by mail. Mail registration applications are available at all post offices, town clerk offices, or the board of elections.  To download the application in Adobe Acrobat format, select the following link.

Applications must be postmarked no later than the 25th day before the election in which you seek to vote. The application must be received by the board of elections no later than the 20th day before such election

If you move within the county your change of address must be received at least 20 days before the election.

You will receive an acknowledgment notice from the board of elections upon approval of your application. This notice will inform you of your election district and the location of your polling place.
