DELHI - Delaware County’s new STOP-DWI
Coordinator, Lisa Barrows, needed to find a way to fund the educational programs
that her annual budget could no longer afford. With the help of some local
police officers, and the staff at Delhi College Golf Course, she managed to
raise over $8,000 last Thursday, with the first annual STOP-DWI Golf Tournament.
Twenty
teams of golfers participated in the captain-and-crew format tournament, which
featured a large number of door prizes, donated by local and national companies,
and a raffle for a set of PING irons. The day concluded with a chicken barbecue
prepared by the staff of the Eagle’s Nest Grill at the College Golf Course, and
the presentation of awards and prizes by the course’s PGA Professional, Dave
Arehart.
The winner
of the tournament was the team of Kurt Schulte, Larry Leonard, Jeremy Allen and
Jamie O’Donnell. Finishing a close second were Roland Beers, Bill Reeves, Bill
Beers and Allen Taylor. Third place went to John Robertson, Mike Beers, Carl
Carlson and Craig Shelton. |
