Cops Gather for Recognition

Law enforcement officers from throughout Delaware County gathered on Tuesday at the Walton fire station for the annual STOP-DWI breakfast. Forty-five people, representing 11 agencies, attended. The STOP-DWI program is funded with money collected from fines for driving while intoxicated or driving while ability impaired. It provides equipment to police agencies and education programs to reduce incidents of drunk driving. The annual gathering honors agencies and officers for their efforts. Attendees include officers from police departments in Colchester, Deposit, Delhi, SUNY Delhi, Sidney, and Walton as well as New Yo9rk City DEP police, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, the county probation department, the district attorney’s office and the New York State Police.
